Jacketed Gaskets

Mercer Gasket & Shim is an industry-leading source for highly durable jacketed gaskets, which combine the superior temperature resistance of a metal jacket with the optimal sealing performance of soft filler.

As with our solid metal gaskets, Mercer will fabricate jacketed gaskets from any metal in any thickness to provide compressive strength and blow out resistance, depending on the application’s corrosive conditions. For excellent compressibility and resilience, Mercer’s filler materials for jacketed gaskets include non-asbestos, flexible graphite, ceramic, PTFE and corrugated metal.

Because the design of a jacketed gasket often requires different shapes for different needs, Mercer offers a wide range of styles, including:

300

300

Single Jacket: The most basic form of jacketed gasket, with coverage on one face and both edges.

301

301

Single Jacket with Overlap: Where full coverage is needed and flange is narrow relative to gasket ID.

305

305

Double Jacket: Where full coverage is needed and flange is wide relative to gasket ID.

306

306

Double Jacket with Double Shell: Stronger and more rigid than double jacket gasket.

330

330

Double Gasket Corrugated: Corrugations create a labyrinth seal across the gasket face.

340

340

French Style Jacket: Provides coverage on one side only (inside or outside) and both faces. Flange is narrow relative to gasket ID.

345

345

French Style Jacket: Provides coverage on one side only (inside or outside) and both faces. Flange is narrow relative to gasket ID.

347

347

French Style Jacket, two and three piece construction: For wide or irregular shapes. Available with coverage on either inside or outside edge and both surfaces.

Fillers

A metal jacket extends the temperature and pressure range of the filler.

There are five main types of filler:

  • Non-asbestos
  • Flexible graphite
  • Ceramic
  • PTFE
  • Corrugated metal

Our highly experienced team of engineers will guide you through the process of selecting the ideal jacket metal, filler material and design based on the right balance of performance requirements and cost.

Visit our Materials Guide to get started determining the general class of materials most suitable for your jacketed gasket needs.
